The death of Moses (Deuteronomy 34: 1-5)

Sometime later, Moses left the lowlands of Moab. He went up Mount Pisgah to the peak of Mount Nebo, which is across the jordan River from Jericho. The LORD showed him all the land as far north as Gilead and the town of Dan. He let Moses see the territories that would soon belong to the tribes of Naphtali, Ephriam, Manasseh, and Judah, as far west as the Mediterranean Sea.The LORD also showed him the land in the south, from the valley near the town of Jericho, known as The City of Palm Trees, down to the town of Zoar. The LORD said,"Moses, this is the land I was talking about when I solemnly promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that they would give land to their descendants. I have let you see it, but you will not cross the Jordan and go in." And so, Moses, the LORD's servant died there in Moab, just as the LORD said.
Comparing the mission of Moses with that of Jesus, St. Cyril of Alexandria tought: "Our Lord Jesus Christ set the world free from its ancient offences; for he is the truth and is holy by his very nature; he sanctifies those who have believed through his blood, and he sets them above death, and he will bring them into his own kingdom of heaven, into the land that is truly holy - to the loftier mansions, to the heavenly city, to the church of the first-born, wose maker and creator is God.
Daily Prayer: And I know, that all things work together for good to those who love you and are called according to your purposes. Create in me a clean heart God and renew a right spirit within me. In your holy name I pray Amen.
