Matthew 11:1-5 The Savior Is Here and Proclaims God's Kingdom

When Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities. Now when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to Him, “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM.

Here, the John in the text is John the Baptist. This is he who Jesus says is the greatest of all men born from women. Yet, even he came to a place where when under persecution, he had a moment of doubt. He is not rejecting Jesus, he is asking for confirmation. Jesus’ reply is one that states through his miraculous works, he is verified because nobody could do what he is doing without God ordaining his work. From here, Jesus will go to the town where he sent his disciples to preach the gospel and the Kingdom of Heaven to those who were chosen.

Daily Prayer: Lord Jesus, unless you call a person, they cannot believe. Therefore through me and my friends, place the word of God in our mouths so that when people hear of Your Gospel, they may believe. In pray in your name and for your sake Amen.
