Micah 6: 1-8 God's third lawsuit against Israel

Hear now what the Lord is saying, "Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice. My people, what have done to you, and how have I wearied you? Answer me. Indeed, I brought you up from the land of Egypt and ransomed you from the house of slavery, and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. With what shall I come to the Lord and bow myself before God on high? Shall I present my firstborn for my rebellious acts? The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has told you, O man, what is good: And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.

This is for me the highlight of the book. It reminds you of the Old Testament version of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. Jesus said to love God and love your neighbor for which there is no laws.
If you do this, you have fulfilled the intent of the law. Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly before God - Is that too hard or complicated? God is not as concerned with the work of our hands as he is the motivations of our heart. God will always give you credit for good than what you are able to do and hold less against your account than what you really owe so long as you do it for his names-sake. This is the spirit of both the law and the gospel.

Daily Prayer: Father, comfort us this day from the shame of our past. Forgive us our sins and set aside our iniquity. Let us begin anew. Let the raising of the sun be the beginning of new mercies. Starting today, let us place our trust in you and the work of Lord Jesus. Let us not be swayed by money, power, or things of this world since they will all pass away. Instead let us fix our eyes on you and your gracious hand. In your holy name I pray Amen.
