Matthew 25-27, 33-34 the cure for anxiety

“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the] air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; because tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Jesus does not suggest that we not worry, he commands it! Worrying is the outward sign of a heart that doesn't trust God. Jesus explains to us that if our father takes care of the birds of the air, it is not unreasonable to think that he would care for his children. Instead if we are seekers of God instead of seekers for food and money, all these material things he will give to the heart that doesn't covet them.

Daily Prayer: Father, we are all guilty of taking our eyes off of you and turning them to our self and own daily needs. Forgive us. Let us begin today by making an intentional trust in you and allowing you to demonstrate your faithfulness to a trusting heart. In your holy name I pray Amen.
