Matthew 4:8-11 Not my will, but thy will be done.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.” Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

There will be a time when every knee will bow to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Father promised Jesus that his name will be higher than any other name and that God will make his enemies a footstool for him before his second advent. But for now, Jesus’ mission wasn’t rule, but sacrifice for the sake of you and me. All of the Kingdoms of the World have already been promised him, but if he would have accepted them from Satan, he would have been selling us out and our salvation, believers that the Father has given him.

Instead Jesus resists Satan’s enticement for the glory of the Father and the good of those who need forgiveness of their sins. Jesus desires that not my will, but his will be done.

Daily Prayer: Father, even today Satan will come enticing believers to impose their will over yours. Let us not stample on grace, but instead be firm in our faith without wavering and hold fast to your word and your promises. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
