James 3:13-18 Wisdom from Above

Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

It is difficult to play by the rules when you don't understand what the rules are. But wisdom is more than playing by the rules. Wisdom is the grace of living life skillfully. One attains this by having understanding which is God revealing His purposes to you through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Then, by the help of God, you can strive for the high calling of joining God in His work on earth. As it is written, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Let us pray:

Daily Prayer: Father, James discloses to us that if I ask for wisdom, you are gracious in granting it. Therefore Father, grant me wisdom and understanding in all that I do so that my labor may not be in vain. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
