Mark 3:22-30 The Unpardonable Sin

The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.” And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished! But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

There are two ways of suffering eternal demnation. The Bible teaches us that our only means of salvation is trusting in Jesus Christ alone and His finished work on the cross for our only hope of salvation. Apart from this, there is no forgiveness. To receive Jesus as Savior, one must be born again, a new birth not of flesh, but of spirit. The Holy Ghost is the imparter of life. If you reject the Holy Ghost, you reject birth through the spirit and you cannot enter into Jesus’ offer for forgiveness without this new birth.

Daily Prayer: Father, often times, especially in times of anger, we say things that we do not mean. We exaggerate what we say and even have used Your name if vain. Forgive us Father. Since this is such a serious offense, by Your Spirit, quench our tendency to use exaggerated speech, but instead remain humble in our heart and allow you to bring justice and fairness and grace in our time of need. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
