Matthew 13: 31-32 the Mustard Seed Parable

He presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES.”

Often times in Jesus’ sayings, he points out that in the Kingdom of Heaven, things are often the opposite of what one would expect in our experience. Previously he told his disciples that the last will be first and the first will be last. Now he points to another example taken from farming. Here he speaks of how small of a seed, which is the mustard seed, produces a significant bust. In the same way, even a small portion of faith can greatly impact the Kingdom of Heaven, because in heaven, results are not measured by the size of the seed, but from the fruit which they produce. This is why it only takes a simple faith in Jesus to make way for eternal salvation, because when you attach small faith to the work of God, the results are everlasting.

Daily Prayer: Lord Jesus, my faith is in you and in you alone for my eternal destiny and my physical survival. Praise you for all you do and use me as you see fit. In your holy name I pray Amen.
