Mark 10: 2, 7-12 Jesus teaches about divorce

Some Pharisees came up to Jesus, testing Him, and began to question Him whether it was lawful for a man to divorce a wife. From the beginning of creation, God MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. ”In the house the disciples began questioning Him about this again. And He *said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.”

You are on the wrong track when you seek to justify changing God's created order. God loves the world and his man and women, so much so that he sent his son to redeem them from their sin. This is the unconditional love from which we should learn from. With that understanding, how silly does it sound to say, "Yes Jesus loves me, but can I divorce my wife?" No, you cannot divorce your wife, but you can forgive her. Somehow we think others are a reproach, but we are lovable. Fallen man is not so lovable, but does need mercy and grace for their forgiveness.

Daily Prayer: Father forgive us, we often times do not know what we do. These words from the cross describe the human condition before salvation. We know not what we do. Father, for those who are in my family and have not receive saving grace, draw near to them so that they my place their trust in you and be born again. In your loving name I pray Amen.
