Luke 2: 25, 32-35 in Jesus there is salvation

And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And His father and mother were amazed at the things which were being said about Him. And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed— and a sword will pierce even your own soul—to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”

Simeon was faithfully seeking the consolation of Israel in the promised Messiah. It was because of his faith that the Christ was revealed to him through the Holy Spirit. Simeon spoke to Mary and Jusepph as their son being "a light to the gentiles, and the glory of the people Israel." He also understood that this world is under the power of Satan and that he would be opposed. That is why Jesus said in his trials that my kingdom is not of this world. The mission that his father gave him was clear, which was to be the source of salvation to all who come to him by faith, just as Simeon had done.

Daily Prayer: Father forgive us our sins, and set us back on the path of faith so that we can come to Jesus and know him as our personal Savior. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
