“No
one, after lighting a lamp, puts it away in a cellar nor under a basket, but on
the lamp stand, so that those who enter may see the light. The
eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is
full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness.
Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness. If therefore your
whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it will be wholly illumined,
as when the lamp illumines you with its rays.”
Today’s
lesson is a very important one, because I know that you know it is true. How many times have you desired to “look
someone in the eye?” You know also, that
a wondering eye is lustful. Children
often have “bright eyes” which are full of excitement and their motivations are
true. This is why Jesus says that the
eye is the gateway to the soul.
Therefore be careful what you do with your eyes, because they are
telling the story of your eternity.
Daily
Prayer: Lord Jesus, let us govern our
eye and our whole body to be an acceptable dwelling place for the Holy Spirit.
Let us learn to be content with the blessings You have given and not desire the
treasure of another. In Your holy name I pray Amen.
