And
He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he
must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever
wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake,
he is the one who will save it. For what is a man
profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My
words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the
glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
You will
discover as you go through the Bible that the people of God do not want to be
ashamed of by people who are important in their lives. Here, Jesus says that if you are ashamed of
Him before men, He will be ashamed of you before God. Paul, the Apostle of Jesus Christ says the
same thing to his follower Timothy in his epistle to him. He tells him by letter to come to him, as he
was imprisoned for preaching the gospel and he tells him not to be ashamed of
him or of the gospel, but instead come to him boldly bring him the parchments
and necessities of life and to do so without fear or regret. In the same way, since you know the truth of
the gospel (Good News) to not hide it as though you are embarrassed, but
instead proclaim it because Jesus died so that men and women may know the truth
and be set free from the sins that bind them.
Daily
Prayer: Lord Jesus, without fear,
regret, or embracement I proclaim the Good News of Your gospel and let others
know of Your saving grace. Open their
hearts and their minds and set them free because the victory is won. In Your holy name I pray Amen.
