Now
suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him
a snake instead of a fish, will he? Or if he is asked for an egg, he
will not give him a scorpion, will he? If you then,
being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your
heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”
We are
described as being made in the image of God.
God is presented to us for our understanding as our heavenly Father.
The Father
is the centerpiece of the deity of the Triune God. In yesterday’s lesson, we learned that we
should take all things in our life before God.
The reason for this is because the Father is good. Today, Jesus reminds us that even our sinful
earthly fathers know how to do well with their children. When their children
come to them in need, our fathers give to us from their riches. God the Father does not have the limitation
that our earthly fathers have. Father
God does not give to us from His riches, instead He gives to us “out of His
riches.” His storehouse of wealth is
without limit which is the reason that nothing is impossible for God,
especially to those who live Him and are called according to His purpose.
Daily
Prayer: Father, teach me to come to You
according to Your will so that I may see Your glory in my life. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
