Acts 4:1-4 The First Persecution

As they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,  being greatly disturbed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.  And they laid hands on them and put them in jail until the next day, for it was already evening.  But many of those who had heard the message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

Have you ever noticed that the natural man, once shown his sin, goes into a state of denial.  Peter's address to the Jews accuses them of crucifying the Holy One of Israel, and this would been with the approval and by the hand of the leaders of the Temple.  But instead of following Peter's instructions to repent and be made whole, they instead question Peter and John who were proclaiming the power of the resurrected Jesus and put them in prison.  It is a dangerous thing to abuse the men of God because if you do not leave them  alone, you find yourself a war with God..

Daily Prayer:  Lord Jesus, You made a way for us to be saved, but we need to repent of our sins which is to say  we need to agree with you about sin.  If we do, You will wipe away our sins and set aside our unrighteousness.  In Your holy name I pray Amen.
