And
His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because
of the crowd. And it was reported to Him, “Your mother
and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.” But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear
the word of God and do it.”
Jesus
often said things among His family that we find surprising. As a twelve year old child, when his parents
lost his whereabouts and finally found him, he said, “Did you not know I would
be in my Father’s house doing His business.?”
Now again, Mary seeks her son Jesus and He replies, “Those who hear my
Father’s word and do it are my mother, sister, and brother.” His first loyalty was not to earthly family,
but His Father in heaven. This should be
our first loyalty also. If we will ever
see the Father’s glory, our loyalty will change as well.
Daily
Prayer: Father, show us Your glory. We seek to
know You better than what our fleshly perception can see. You revealed Yourself in certain ways to
Moses, Paul, and Jesus’ disciples. Do it
once again for this generation who seeks repentance and desires intimacy with
You. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
