And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. Then He came to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Get up, let us be going; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!”
It is worth noting that the disciples continue to fail Jesus because of their seeking to obey him in the flesh. Jesus Christ, who is not only the Son of God, but also the Son of Man, did not attempt to please His Father in the flesh, because even a perfect man’s weakness in in his flesh e.g. Adam failed his charge to God in fleshly ways. Instead, Jesus comes to the Father in spirit and in prayer. The disciples snap into action when Jesus is with them when the tempter doesn’t come.
Daily Prayer: Lord, an important lesson for living out our Christian life is to never attempt it alone. The triune God is abundantly available to the believer. The Father receives our petitions because of the sacrifice of the Son. The Son promises He will never leave us and will be with us always, even until the end of the age. The Spirit was sent by the Son to indwell us and to be our Advocate. With this kind of help, let us not try it alone. In Jesus name I pray Amen
