And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay at his house until you leave that city. As you enter the house, give it your greeting. If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace. Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet. Truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.
Those who are followers of Jesus Christ, treat other followers of him as their family. When you have family, you need not pay for lodging and for your meals. Not if you truly are family. What Jesus offers family is greater than what can be paid for with money. He offers his peace to those who abide with him. In the same way, as he sends disciples into the world for their bringing the gospel he requests that they dwell with family in the towns where they are sent. However, if someone does not receive them, Christ will have an account with that one and will repay them according to their deeds.
Daily Prayer: Lord Jesus, we must practice our love for one another. Love shaped with deeds and not words. Let me not think too highly of myself, but instead offer the world what Jesus gives which is his peace to those who trust him. In your righteous name I pray Amen.
