But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”
This goes back to the teaching concerning judging each other. Jesus had also taught that until you remove the log that is caught in your own eye, do not try to remove the speck that in another's eye. He also said that whatever means you use in judgment of another, that means will also be your judge. The point is that all are born into sin and are in need of a savior. There is none that are righteous, no not one. Let us then rest in grace, because by believing in Jesus, we can escape the Day of Judgment.
Daily Prayer: Jesus taught us to ask for forgiveness of our sins, just as we forgive the sins of others. This is your model since the fall of man in the garden. Let us then not look to others with contempt, but instead examine ourselves and seek Christ's mercy and grace. Amen.
