In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
The prologue to the Gospel of John is a summary of the theology surrounding the Christian faith. We believe that Jesus Christ is the incarnate Word of God. Jesus came into the world that is under Satanic domination and these unregenerate man will not understand the Word of God taking on flesh to be with us. It is also a contrast, not only of Satanic power verses the Word of God, but it is a contrast of how people are to live in light of this new revelation. Previously the people of God only understood the Law as presented by Moses. Now, One who is Greater than Moses is here and He represents grace and truth. By grace we are saved by faith and not by works, because forgiveness is an act of God and not from natural man and nobody except God and the Son are to be credited for this.
Daily Prayer: The gospel, the Good News, is now available to me and to all who come to Jesus Christ recognizing Him as the Eternal Son of God who came to take away the sin of the World. God so loved the world that He gave his only Begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall inherit Eternal Life. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
